You rely on your sprinkler system to water your thirsty lawn and keep your yards looking beautiful. But unless you sit and watch it come on everyday, how do you know that it’s working properly? The following are some signs that you may need sprinkler repair.
- Brown patch around a valve head. If the grass or plants around a head are turning brown or wilting, then it’s fairly obvious that water is not coming out like it should. This may be because something is blocking the flow of liquid or a wiring problem is preventing the vale from turning on.
- Pool of water in your yard from no apparent source. If water starts collecting above a sprinkler head or pipe, then your system is leaking at that point. A sprinkler head may be stuck open underground or the pipes may have a crack.
- Your system comes on at the wrong time or doesn’t come on at all. While you may not be watching your system all the time, you can at least hear it at the times it’s supposed to come on. It you don’t, first check the timer to ensure that it’s set properly. It may have been tampered with, perhaps by your mischievous kids. If your control box requires separate batteries, replace them. Otherwise, there may be a break in the wiring.
You may try to repair your system but please be aware that if you start digging randomly in your yard, you may hit an electrical connection, which can be dangerous, or damage the plumbing to your home. If the problem is electrical, you run the risk of shock especially around water. To avoid any problems, contact us, so we can diagnose the situation properly and recommend a course of action.
