Could Sprinkler Repair Be in Your Future?

Could Sprinkler Repair Be in Your Future?

You might not think it to look at them, but lawn sprinklers are actually a pretty complex piece of modern technology. And as with all things of complex design and execution, that means that sprinkler repair may one day be in your future. When calling for professionals like us to fix what’s wrong, it can be tremendous help to know exactly what to look for when you describe the problem with your sprinkler.

Rotor Sprinkler No Longer Rotates

You can tell if you have a rotor sprinkler by the powerful spray of water. Rotor sprinkler models for residential use are more than capable of shooting a jet of water that covers more than 50 feet in the air. Warning signs that rotor sprinkler repair is in your future often arrives in the form of noticing that the thing no longer rotates as usual. The problem to be repaired in this case very often is not actually with the sprinkler mechanism that is no longer rotating, but with finding out what has caused your water pressure to drop.

Nozzle Inspection

Sometimes you head out to take a look at the water spraying forth from your sprinkler and notice that the spray just doesn’t look like it should. Sprinkler repair may very well be in your future if the spray of water is quite obviously getting misdirected. The first few step in repairing a sprinkler that is shooting water all out of whack can be done by you. First try clearing out any obstructions that may be causing the unusual spray pattern by using a paper clip to unclog the nozzle. If this doesn’t work, what you do next will depend on the type of sprinkler system you have. Nozzle adjustment may be accomplished with a slight twist of the head of the sprinkler or it may require the use of a screwdriver on a flow-adjustment screw or you may need to use a special tool provided by the manufacturer. If none of this works to fix the problem of misdirected spray, that’s where our professional sprinkler repair service comes into action.

Solenoid Valve

The solenoid valves are the heartbeat of the irrigation system. This is one of the first things we check when a zone lacks pressure or does not come on. If you have a persistent wet spot or a weeping sprinkler, A solenoid valve repair may be required.

Retraction Issues

A sprinkler that fails to retract back into place following the watering cycle can instill a sudden sick feeling in the pit of the stomach, but it doesn’t necessarily mean heavy-duty sprinkler repair will be called for. Before getting too sick with worry about repair bills, closely inspect the area between the sprinkler rise and the riser seal. Debris can often get stuck in that space and obstruct the sprinkler from properly retracting. If you find debris, remove it. If your inspection instead reveals that either the riser or seal has been damaged, then, yes, sprinkler repair is in your future as the only likely solution will be replacement.
