One thing you can do to help maintain the integrity of your irrigation system is make sure it runs EVERY WEEK. Even if you manually turn it on allow each zone to run for even a few minutes, you are allowing your system to flush itself out and ensure it is working properly.
Turning your system off completely, which can cause your system to deteriorate, can be avoided by adjusting your watering times with an automatic timer. A rainsensor will also tell your system when your lawn does or does not need water. These are two additions that can make your life much easier, and Sawyer has both in stock!
What if I want to get sod?
That is great! Sod can increase your curb appeal and even allow less dirt to be brought into your home, but be sure you have an irrigation appoint scheduled before you plan the arrival of your sod. Installing new sod without coordinating your irrigation system could cost you all or some of your new sod. During dry, warm months the wait time for an appointment could range from 1-2 weeks on average.
